Reflections From the Front Desk at Family Hearing
By Stephanie Major, Lafayette patient care coordinator

Stephanie MajorSince starting as the patient care coordinator at the Lafayette office of Family Hearing, I have had the joy of meeting the most interesting people.

I’ve met mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, and grandchildren supporting one another through their appointments. I’ve met archaeologists, doctors, teachers, caregivers, and mechanics.

I’ve met dog lovers and cat lovers, shared warm smiles, and spoken with cancer patients. I’ve met travelers from Iceland, Africa, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Scandinavia, India, and Portugal.

I’ve met Harvard University students, Oxford students, high schoolers, and college professors.

I’ve met people from Wyoming, California, South Carolina, New York, Seattle, Miami, Steamboat Springs, Golden, Loveland, Littleton, Fort Lupton, and the UK — just to name a few.

I’ve met music lovers, piano and dance teachers, gardeners, hikers, bikers, volunteers, artists, writers, and avid readers.

I’ve had the privilege to meet some only briefly, just before they passed on. And I have met widows and partners, neighbors, and lifelong friends.

All these incredible people come into our office to care for their hearing, and, in doing so, nurture their connection to themselves, their families, their communities, and the world around them.

It’s what I love most about my job, and I can’t wait to see who walks in next.

You inspire us every day. Thank you for being part of the Family Hearing community!
