Kate loves using science to help people in a tangible way. She was hooked on hearing science after her first class about it at the University of Colorado–Boulder. She was captivated by the complexity of hearing and how important it is to daily functioning.
Kate received an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Grant, which she used to research the relationship between cardiovascular disease risk factors and hearing loss. She’ll graduate with a B.S. degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences in May 2020, and she’ll receive a certificate in global public health as well. Her hands-on experience includes the Hearing Epidemiology and Research Diagnostics (HEARD) Lab, an internship at Boulder Valley Hearing Associates, AND an internship at Family Hearing of course!
She loves Family Hearing because you can feel the inclusive, welcoming environment there the moment you walk in. Every provider works their hardest to provide the best care possible, and that passion is infectious. She loves interacting with patients and knowing she impacts their quality of life.
Kate studied abroad in Prague in 2019 for 5 months and traveled to 13 different countries. She loves indoor cycling classes, yoga, and taking her dog on hikes.
